Students who have brilliant track records but faced problems to carry forward
their mission due to financial crisis in some rural areas of Assam including
violence hit Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) can relax now. They
have got a helping hand from Rehab India Foundation.
The
foundation has recently distributed Rs 1, 38, 000 among 33 economically
backward yet meritorious students especially belonging to the minority
community of Goalpara, Kamrup, Gossaigoan, Bijni, Bongaigoan, Kokhrajar and
Chirang in a function held at Bidya Bikash College, Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar,
Assam.
According
to the officials of the foundation the programme mainly focuses on providing
opportunities for academically meritorious and financially backward students
who are pursuing Higher Secondary, Degree or Diploma courses or any other
Professional Course after class X.
Abdul Baten, general secretary of Rehab Assam chapter, Shamsul Haque, professor of Gossaigaon College, Gaju Rahman, assistant project manager and several others who were present during the occasion laid emphases on the importance of quality of education for poor.

Besides,
as a part of the 5th Phase of calamity relief programme in Assam, Rehab has
identified four villages -- Jounamma camp at Kokrajhar district, Paataimari at
Chirang, Solamari and Jaraguri villages at Bongaigoan district. These villages
have been adopted for rehabilitation and wholesome development.
